“Limitations”

Over the centuries, mankind has been driven to do more and reach farther than the previous generation. Although we are now approximately six thousand years from the beginning of the Garden of Eden, there are many new things to discover. I would like to address the subject of limitations and how much of an impact the body of Christ can be.

Limitations are determined by numerous things such as technology, information, and the simple truth of one's own perception of himself. Information greatly affects the human heart by the lack of, or the presence of, wrong information. Information produces images and determines our limitations or boundaries. This being true, it becomes obvious that what we know is of the utmost importance. To expand the boundaries of the heart, there must be information that is processed within it to create the image. Not all information is bad, and neither is it all good.

I recently saw part of a program about how the television series, 'Star Trek', had affected and changed our generation. I’m not trying to promote secular television, but this helps me establish a point about information. An electronic engineer who watched Star Trek, was inspired by the communicating device they used on the program. He told the story of how he would try to enjoy a relaxing moment at home. As he was enjoying himself, the house phone would ring. As he made his way from the patio into the house, the phone would quit ringing. Out of that frustrating experience, he began pursuing fixing this problem. Eventually, the cellular phone was developed, because of his watching Captain Kirk calling the Enterprise.

As we all know, the cell phone has changed the way we communicate the world over. The wealth it has produced is phenomenal. Imagine what the body of Christ could do with the wealth that one idea has produced.

Some of the limitations we have experienced have been connected to the pulpits, and I don’t mean that in a critical or condemning way. We are all striving to be well pleasing to our Heavenly Father, but we’ve missed it in some areas. Sin has been preached so hard that the Saints have become sin-conscious instead of God-conscious. The results have caused the Saints to withdraw from certain arenas of society. The absence of Christians in these arenas leaves a void that becomes occupied with the darkness of unbelievers.

We need to experience the freedom to pursue God-given abilities. I wonder how many movies, songs, businesses, inventions, political influence,, etc.. have died unborn. I don't know many Christians who have been directly involved with great things that have shaped future generations in a positive way. I am not saying believers are lazy and unproductive. My intentions are to inspire your heart to break the limitations that are restricting your abilities. Don’t be limited by self-imposed opinions of yourself or the opinions of others, if they are contrary to God's.

Eph 3:20 says;

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.

The parameters of our asking is determined by the openness our heart to be influenced by the Holy Spirit and by the degree of information we have at our disposal. The Holy Spirit uses words to direct and provoke us to ask for the things we once thought to be impossible. In fact, this scripture conveys the idea that we need to ask and think so God has something to go beyond.

Without adequate information, we are limited in our endeavors. 2 Peter 1:2 conveys this same truth saying;

May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. [AMP]

What mighty things the body of Christ can accomplish when limitations are destroyed and the people of God are free to express His manifold grace. Allow Him to continue to develop you and be used for His Glory.

“Who Are You Listening To?”

In John 5:30 we read,

“I can of mine of own self do nothing. As I hear I judge: and my judgment is just, because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”

Jesus recognized that there was more than one voice in the earth. He judged every thought that entered into His mind. If it did not line up with His Father’s will, He judged it useless. If what He heard produced fear and not faith, He rejected it.

In Mark 4:35 we read;

“And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.”

Jesus knew that He could have what He said. When Jesus said, “Let us pass over to the other side", there was no doubt. Faith was released; and Jesus was able to sleep and rest in the stern of the boat, knowing that they would make it to the other side safely.

In Mark 4:37-38 we read;

“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Apparently the disciples didn’t hear Jesus when He said, “Let us pass over unto the other side”. They heard the wrong voice. They heard, “we are going to perish”. Where did this thought come from? Did it come from God? No! It came from the devil. The devil used natural circumstances to speak to them. Instead of listening to the storm, they were to take the words of Jesus, “Let us pass over unto the other side” and speak to the storm. The disciples got in fear, because they listened to the wrong voice.

In Mark 4:39 we read,

“And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

Jesus judged what He heard. He knew the Father’s will, and He released the Father’s will by speaking the answer and not the problem. He said, “Peace, be still.”

As I close, I want to encourage you to judge what you hear. There are two voices in the earth, God’s voice and the devil’s voice. If what you are hearing doesn’t produce faith, but it produces fear; it’s the wrong voice. The devil is going to send some tests and trials. He is trying to work you over and send you all kinds of wrong messages. Don’t listen. Begin to focus on the Father’s voice, speak to the storm and come out on the other side in perfect peace.
