Faith operates by following the spiritual laws God has put into motion for the purpose of drawing from His endless provisions. The natural world functions by laws, and without them everything would be in a chaotic state. Gravity is a law that keeps things on the soil of planet earth, everything that goes up must come down. This is a never failing law that works all the time, every time, without fail.
Electricity has been a great asset to our society. Past generations had not discovered this great power source and had to rely on other things. Although electricity was always available, it remained hidden from millions of people for thousands of years. Once it was discovered, the process began of learning the laws that it took to control its power. Once we learned them, we began ordering, arranging, and building our lives around electrical power. Faith and the kingdom of God operate by laws; and if we will align ourselves with them, life will change.
We can use our faith on purpose and get kingdom results.
First of all, lets determine where faith comes from. It says in Romans 10:17,
“So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”
Apart from the Word of God, faith does not exist. There are things referred to as faith, but true faith comes from the Word of God.
The next truth we see is faith being released by speaking. It says in Mark 11:23,
“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain. Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
Speaking the Word of God is a vital key to releasing faith, just like copper or aluminum wires are a vital part of getting the power of electricity from the source into our homes. Electricity does not flow through rubber or plastics, it has to have the right element for it to work properly. Faith does not flow through silence, but through words. A person cannot think about the mountain and see it move. Words carry the substance of faith as God demonstrated when He said, "Light be". Speaking correctly is tapping into the spiritual laws that will transport Kingdom provisions into our lives. Jesus said in Mark 11 that believing in the heart is required. Paul said in Romans 10:9-10 that it's with the heart man believes. Believing correctly is obviously an important part of the process of faith, otherwise the desired change will not happen. Look at what James said in 1:26;
“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.”
James is telling us that if a man is endeavoring to live a godly life with the intentions of pursuing a fruitful relationship with God, then he must not speak wrong words. What are wrong words? Words that are in opposition to the promises of God. James is saying that wrong words will deceive our heart. If our speaking is wrong, our believing is wrong. We may think we're believing God, but our words are misleading our heart. We must retrain ourselves to speak correctly, if faith is going to work for us.
It is a violation of spiritual laws to say we believe God and then speak words of unbelief. If I say I believe electricity will flow though copper wires, but use plastic instead, I will get no results. Electricity will not flow through plastic, it is a violation of the laws that control its power.
A person who will follow these simple steps will be able to use their faith on purpose, instead of having faith accidents. Faith accidents are when the Word worked, but we don’t know how it happened. The Word works when faith is mixed with it (Hebrews 4:2). If we were going to build a new home, we would design it to accommodate and include the power of electricity. Let’s strive to build our lives around faith like we have electricity.
In Romans 5:19 we read;
“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
The key words in this passage are “made”. You and I didn’t become sinners, we were made sinners. We didn’t become righteous, we were made righteous. In other words, it had nothing to do with us. We didn’t become sinners because of something we did. Adam made us sinners. We didn’t become righteous because of something we did. Jesus made us righteous.
What is the definition of the word, “sinner”? Is it someone that sins? No. It means separation from God spiritually. When Adam sinned, he died spiritually. His spiritual connection to God was cut off. Adam took on the nature of a sinner. He now operated in his ability and not God’s ability. In Genesis we read; “Every seed produces after its kind.” Apple seeds produce apples and orange seeds produce oranges. Well, man carries the seed that produces other human beings. When Adam sinned, he took on the nature of sin. His seed was now corrupted with sin, and everyone born into the earth was born as a sinner or made a sinner. It had nothing to do with you.
Now, you might say "but I have done bad things, and I sin". That’s true, but the reason you sin is because that is your nature. Barking doesn’t make a dog. A dog makes a dog, and the nature of a dog is to bark. Sinning doesn’t make you a sinner. Adam made you a sinner, and because of the sin nature, you sinned.
Good news! Jesus came to take away the sin nature and give us God’s nature. In II Corinthians 5:21 we read;
“For he hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
In I Peter 1:23 we read;
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”
Remember, every seed produces after its kind. Jesus was the Word of God made flesh. Jesus was born of a virgin by the incorruptible seed of God’s Word. He did not have a sin nature. He was righteous and He made us righteous when we believed and asked Jesus into our heart and became born again. The sin nature was replaced with God’s nature, and now we are one with God spiritually.
As I close, be encouraged. You have been made righteous. You have God’s power and ability living in you to empower you to live a life of victory over sin. You have the ability and nature to produce righteous acts. Renew your mind with God’s Word; and yield to the Holy Spirit daily, and experience victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
